Do you like the great outdoors, tramping, camping and being one with nature?

If you love our clean green environment we live in here in New Zealand and like the idea of protecting our planet, why not have a wedding that celebrates your love of nature?

As wedding planners we can help you coordinate a day that is uniquely yours and encompasses all that is eco friendly.

Attire

Wear comfortable, loose clothing in natural fabrics, such as linen, silk cotton and fine wools.

Polyester is very hard on the earths resources, and other some other fabrics aren’t particularly animal friendly.

There is no need for your attendants to all match.

Perhaps ask them to wear casual clothes they are comfortable in, that may follow your theme.

Flowers

Bunches of wild flowers or daisies, tied in a loose bunch look beautiful and it would appear you have just popped out and picked them before the wedding ceremony.

Remember flowers out of season may be imported and like many products will affect our carbon footprint.

What ever flowers you do choose you will want to make sure they are pesticide-free by ordering them from a local supplier.

Setting

Consider the beach, parks, nature reserves or botanical gardens, or any other beautiful natural setting near you.

If you have a favourite spot, it is often possible to get a permit from local council to have your ceremony there – just be mindful that they may have rules regarding the amount of people, fires and rubbish left behind.

Candle light is beautiful and less taxing on power sources but once again the open flame may need to be covered.

As wedding planners we can help source these extra special touches.

Menu

Serve organic food and wine and perhaps a vegetarian or vegetable centred menu.

Once again use local suppliers to promote less fuel miles.

Favours

Give each guest a plant or flower seeds they can plant at home to remember your special day by, or make a donation to  a charity in their name.

Gift Register

Camping or other outdoor equipment would be appropriate.

Or register to make donations to your favourite charity.

Invitations

Make sure your invitations are recyclable and printed on recycled paper.

Special Touch

Consider planting a tree at the end of your ceremony.

You can also promise to return to plant additional trees at anniversaries or to celebrate the births of children.

One day you may have a grove that celebrates your family.
